以下は全く参考にしてはいけません。こんな作りかた(買い方)は動作確認がどれ ない内にショップの保証期間が終わってしまいます。
19"か21"程度のディスプレイが欲しいと思って買いにいいたがゴールデンウィー クなので配送は殆どの店で止っていたのであった。とりあえずケースを物色して ZOAで ECE4104Aを買った。ネジなしで蓋 が空くのが特徴。300wの電源付きで \12,800+送料 \1,500。
ケースは買ったもののほったらかし。とりあえずマザーボー ドを買うつもりで秋葉にでかける。最近は秋葉の駅が混んでいるので神田で降り て歩いていくことにしている。 PCiN,LAOX,FlipFlap等を回る。

TYAN Tiger100 @\22,800-を買った。NICには手持ちのPlanet ENW-9501-F @\5,800円家へ帰って組むがディスプレイが無いのでBIOSが鳴らす音が頼り。早くディスプ レイを調達しなければ。三菱から22型のNF管が15万で出たし、もう少し悩むこと にする。
SCSIカードは買ったがディスクが買っていないしFDもCD-ROMも無いのでブートで きない。2.5"のIDEはあるのだが。外付けのCD-ROMを継いでもよいのがディスプ レイなしではどうしようもない。
きっと無理やりやろうと思えば LiveLinux 等を使ってNICを認識させることぐら いはできそうだが無理はしない。

Slackware のscsinet.sとrescue.gz で SCSIとCD-ROM の認識を確認。Live Linux をフロッピーから立ち上げようとするが FDを読み込みつづけてだめ。 新しいフロッピィに今度はLive Linux liteを FDから立ち上げたらうまくいった。
cd /etc/sysctl/network-scripts/ ./ifup ./ipcfg-eth0したらネットワークを認識したようだ。libretto からtelnet する。SCSIもOKな ようだ。すばらしい。そのままfdiskで パーティションを切り mke2fs 現行のシステムを/ ,/home,/var をrsh と tarで 転送する。カーネルとモジュールはLive Lite CD-ROMからコピーして使う。 versionは 2.0.35 でとりあえず立ちあげたあとSMP対応の再コンパイルを新マシ ンですることにする。/etc/fstabを書き換え忘れて時間をロス。

dmesgを良く見たら 9G のディスクを全部認識していないようだ。8GのBIOSの制 限にひっかかっているようである。ディスプレイ無しではBIOSの設定を換えられ ないし、LILOで対処できるだろうか。それに換えたらパーティションを切り直 しする必要があるのかなー。
SCSIのCDROMからブートしないし、転送速度のデフォルトの設定値は10MB/sなので 20MB/s にするにもBIOSの設定を換える必要がある。OS上からBIOSの設定が変え られたらいいのに。
